Research to determine the plant structure in short-term suitable for intercropping in rubber in the basic period in the North West provinces
Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg) is new plant which has been planted since 2010, till the end of 2010, 14.931 ha have been planted and initially evaluated as in good growth in some areas of North West provinces. In the past few years, intercropping in rubber plantations have developed in small scale in the North West, farmers expanded the intercropped spontaneously, on the other hand as the intercropped area mainly are monoculture, the effectiveness is not high. A number of short-term plant structure which is suitable for intercropping in basic period of rubber plantation in the North West has been chosen in research results of the project in 2010: Maize - spring summer season (crop 1) - legume - autumn winter season (crop 2) - net interest 25.660.000 - 42.680.000 VND/ha/year and legume - Spring season (crop 1) - paddy rice - summer autumn (crop 2), net interest 24.176.000 - 39.194.000 VND/ha/year. Contribute to reduce 52,17% - 76,99% of washed soil and the rubber’s coronary increased from 2,0 to 8,1 compared with monoculture rubber.
