Using molecular markers to select plants carrying Sub1 in BC2F1 population for improving Bac Thom 7 tolerance of submergence
Vietnam is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change in Asia. Rice is a principle food in Vietnam and plays an important role as an economic activity in this country. Rice yield in the Red River Delta can be significantly reduced by climate change. Sea level rise and flash flooding occur at various degrees which cause directly adverse effects to hundreds ha of growing rice. To improve rice tolerance with submergence is a vital work to minimize the risks from climate change. Successful application of MABC methods to select a line namely No 19 in BC2F1 populations which have genetic background up to 89,8%.The submergence tolerance rice line should be developed in the frequent flooding areas in the Red River Delta to cope with climate change.
