Towards over-expression of GmMyb - a potential drought tolerance transcription factor
Among abiotic stress factors, drought has a biggest impact on crop yield worldwide. Previous studies have shown that many transcription factors from the Myb family could play a signficant role in drought tolerance. We isolated a GmMyb gen from soybean under mild drought conditions of 7% sorbitol. GmMyb was inserted into the 35S overexpression cassette in pRTL2 plasmid. This GmMyb overexpressing cassette was then incorporated into the binary vector pZY101-Asc which carries the Basta herbicide resistance selection marker. Successful transformation of Agrobacgerium tumefaciens with this construct provides starting material for creating and studying potential drought tolerance crops.
