Results of studying and developing the drought resistance groundnut varieties for Midland and North Mountain regions within three years (2009-2011).
In two years of 2009 and 2010, a collection of about 300 groundnut varieties in which 2/3 of them are local varieties and were conserved and envaluated based on 39 morphological charateristics through six main groups: (1) appearance, (2) duration, (3) yielding, (4) variance of some key characters, (5) tolerance and resistance to pests and diseases and (6) selection and recommendation some good & poomising varieties. Research results indicated that: All varieties in the collection were growed and developed well in Spring season. Almost of the varieties revealed their characters in medium levels of evaluation scales, and it had medium duration. There was a diversification in the groundnut collection. And, two promising varieties were selected for test experiment at multilocation such at Thanh Ba district, Phu Thọ province and Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province. Outcomes of the reseach: Two new groundnut varieties were found out and the yield of these was estimated 20% higher than the controls (Chay Trang and Nghe An varieties). A new tenological procedure for cultivating these varieties to get 2.0 tons/ha have been etablished.
