Study on testing of drought-resistant rice varieties adapted to Central Coast region affected by adverse condition of Climate change
Vietnam is one of the countries predicted most strongly affected by climate change, rising sea water level, in which The Central Coast (DHMT) is considered the most severely affected areas by cyclones and droughts. Scientific themes: “Research, evaluation, selection and testing of drought-resistant rice varieties adapted to Central Coast region affected by adverse condition of Climate change” sponsored by the National Target Programme to respond with climate change that the Institute of Plant Protection chaired was conducted from 2013-2014 with the mainly results as follows: - 2 maps to assess the severity of drought to year 2020 and adapted map to use the selected varieties for The Central Coast, have been developed. - 201 lines/varieties were evaluated and 8 lines/varieties with high yields, resistant to drought, were selected, suitable for the Central Coast, of which 2 varieties LCH37, LC93-4 has received certificate from MARD. - From 2013-2014, over 200 hecta some varieties (LCH37, LCH 33, LCh47, LC93-4, LC93-2, Chan Thom) were developed in the drought areas of The Central Coast
