The research of cassava breeding by mutation treatment
In Vietnam, the role of cassava has rapidly been changed from a food crop to industrials crop, with a high rate of growth during the first years of the 21st Century. There is a sharp increase in demand for new high - yield varieties. To shorten the time of cassava breeding,gma irradiation on seeds and cassava cuttings have been applied. The results of the study were the following findings: The lethal doses of 30% and the lethal doses of 50% on material stem were determined corresponds at 11 Gy and 35 Gy; The lethal doses of 30% and the lethal doses of 50% on the material seeds were determined corresponds at 115 Gy and 228 Gy. Two cassava mutant lines, KM101 - 70, KM94 - 50 showed the best characteristics such as: high yield (37.9 - 42.7 tons/ha) increase compared to the controls variety at 11 - 25%.
