Result of new soybean varieties performance to adapt to terracing cultivation in upland areas of Yen bai province
Terrace is an important form to local farmers for sustainable agriculture development in almost all of the mountainous areas in Southeast Asia and Vietnam. A large areas of terrace fields have been kept fallow in the spring season of the northern mountainous subregion in Yen Bai province. About 56 to 87% of the terrace locate in Van Chan, Mu Cang Chai and Tram Tau districts. Low-temperature and lack of water sowing period was main reasons to affect crop production in terrace in spring season. Soybean varieties adaptation to weathers and low water requirements could grow very well in terraces in upland areas. The Center for Technology Development and Agricultural Extension has conducted field experiment of soybean varieties in spring selected four promissing varieties of ĐVN6, ĐT26, ĐVN10. These soybean varieties are suitable with ecological conditions and obtained high productivity in upland terrace in Yen Bai province.
