KẾT QUẢ NGHIÊN CỨU TUYỂN CHỌN GIỐNG LÚA NĂNG SUẤTCAO Ở BÌNH TRỊ THIÊN NĂM 2009-2011

A short growth duration and high yielding rice variety of KD 18 grown in Binh Tri Thien is about 50% of the total of annual rice cultivation area of 150,000 ha, but it has begun to reveal some shortcomings such as susceptibility to ear blast and stem rot diseases…Thus, after having collected 47 rice varieties, we selected 1 promising variety of DT45 and 1 promising line of Xi23/121. Both of them are the short growth duration varieties of 125 and 110 days, the yields of which are 6.3-6.5 and 5.8-6.8 tons/ha in Spring crop and Summer-Autumn crop respectively. They are also resistant to rice blast disease. Therefore, DT45 and Xi23/121 can gradually replace KD18 in rice production in Binh Tri Thien to contribute to the food security and to the improvement of farmers’ income as well.
