Result of VCU tests of pinkish flesh dragon fruit variety LD5 at the Mekong delta and Southeast areas
The VCU tests of 13 hybrids and varieties of dragon fruit were conducted from May, 2009 at three locations, Tiengiang, Longan and Baria Vungtau provines to developing out a new variety. As results indicated that T9 showed best advantageous characters such as good in fruit skin colour and bracts (hard and green in colour); firmness, medium juiciness and pinkish purple colour in fruit flesh as comparison to Red flesh LĐ1. Besides, this hybrid also produced high yield and has effected at low to medium pests and diseases, in which ants, anthracnose and sooty mold diseases were medium in level. From December 18th, 2010, T9 was named as Pinkish purple flesh LĐ5 by Department of Crop Production for large area production or cultivation in the South of Vietnam.
