Evaluation and testing of promising Bacterial Leaf Blight resistant rice variety DT82
Bacterial blight (BB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is one of the most destructive diseases of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Thus, the introgression of some efficiently resistant genes into high quality rice varieties will be useful for enhancing ability of the durable resistance to BB disease. The introgression of some desired genes into an elite line using conventional breeding was very complicated, or sometimes can not be performed. In this study, MAS and greenhouse inoculation were used to screen bacterial leaf blight resistance in DT82 variety. The result indicated that the promising DT82 variety carried 3 BB resistance genes (Xa4, Xa7 and Xa21) and showed high resistance to the bacterial leaf blight races in greenhouse and on the field. DT82 rice variety had short growth duration (105-110 day in summer season), high quality, easy cultivation and higher yield than that of the original one (Bacthom so 7). This variety was tested by the National Center for Plant Testing in summer season of 2014.
