Results from breeding and evaluation of new chrysanthemum varieties C07.7 and C07.16
Cut flower chrysanthemum variety C07.7 was selected from the cross Chevrolet x C05.5, C07.16 from the cross C05.1 x Sunny Yellow in 2007 under Dalat conditions. Standard evaluation experiments during Winter-Spring season 2008-2009 and Summer-Autumn 2009 showed that C07.7 and C07.16 are promising varieties for their beautiful flowers, good adaptation to the local growing conditions and high level of resistance to leaf miner flies and white rust as compared to several popular imported varieties. C07.7 is a exhibit-spray chrysanthemum with brown-red yellow fringed semi double flowers of the medium sizes with a deep-set yellow center. C07.16 is a exhibitspray chrysanthemum with bright yellow decorative flowers of the medium size with a deep-set yellow-green center. Under the photoperiod conditions of 16 hours, extended for 30 days after planting, C07.7 plants developed very strong stems which reached the height of 80-85cm and C07.16 90-100cm. C07.7 and C07.16 gained high growers’ and market acceptance by test produciton plots at farmers’ gardens in Dalat during the Autumn-Winter 2009 and Winter-Spring 2009-2010.
