Results in selection of TR 15.0 tea varieties by mutation methodology

Abstract

In 1990, Tea Research Institute has conducted different treatment doses of gamma rays on TRI777 tea seeds. In this study, evaluation of tea lines after treatment TRI777 tea variety has been selected which have some significant characteristics such as average branching, wide-angle branching, and weight of flush with one bud and three leaves is 1.2g. TRI5.0 tea variety has a strong growth potential and high yield. The productivity at the age of 3 reached to 5.42 tons per hectare, 9.75 tons per hectare at the age of 5, and 25.1 tons per hectare in eighteenth year. Raw material of TRI5.0 tea variety can be used for processing of green tea and black tea with good quality. TRI5.0 tea variety is of good pests and diseases resistance and easy cutting.
