Title

Efficient production models of Tai Nguyen specialty rice varieties in Southern region under the process of VietGAP

Author
Abstract

Production model under VietGAP of Tai Nguyen specialty rice variety of Southern Region was conducted to aim at disseminating the advanced technical standards in rice production, to ensure the safety for consumers and to protect the environment. The model was arranged in Thuan Thanh village, Can Giuoc district, Long An province with the participation of 11 households/8.65 ha in the Summer - Autunm season crops of 2012 and 2013. The management of production and cultivation techniques were adapted to VietGAP processes such as using books for monitoring and recording of production information; using of quality seeds; applying little mineral fertilizers and additional application of microorganism compost (45N - 33,7 P2O5 - 22,5K2O + 300 kg of Dien Trang microorganism compost), controlling pests and diseases by using probiotics containing Trichoderma spp. and Metarhizium anisopliae, collecting packages of plant protection chemicals and cleaning up dispensing instruments at designated places. It can be concluded that the results of the model can meet the interests of producers and yield increases to 3 - 5% but net profit increases by 27 - 36% due to reduction in cost of fertilizers and pesticides. The Impediments in the development of rice production are of VietGAP issues related to production management, safety and environmental hygiene. This constraint should be compensated by corresponding material values (through product price) for reasonable policy solutions and fair market.
