Plant Genetic Resources for food and agriculture are crucial in feeding the world population. They are raw material that farmers and plant breeders use to improve the quality and productivity of crops. The sustainable conservation and use of plant genetic resources in an important component to ensure global food security. All nationals are interdependent on plant genetic resources and therefore, need to work together on this issue. A Global Plan of Action (GPA) was developed to provide a frame work and guide for the conservation and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources of all species with potential for food and agriculture (PGRFA). The Plan was adopted by 150 member nations. Vietnam to join the GPA for the conservation and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources from 2004, through activity of the project : “National Information Sharing Mechanism for Monitoring the Implementation of GPA-PGRFA” (NISM-GPA). Vietnam's a Web page have been placed on the internet as http://www.pgrfa.org/gpa/vn. Some activities in the project have been organism as workshop, training for new stakeholders, publishing for “Introduction for local gene sources”, “Plant Genetic Resources” TV program…. Hope that GPA will help Vietnam to share information and experience for intensify conservation and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources activities.
